Malala Yousafzai

Brought up in a society in which girls have been systematically denied education, but simultaneously raised by a father who understands the power of an education to liberate, empower and inspire people, Malala Yousafzai made a public stand against the Taliban-controlled community in which she lived and fought for the right of girls to have access to education. At first they threatened her; when she wouldn't back down, they shot her in the face...

Malala survived, and she is not backing down; if anything, she now has a world-wide platform from where to share her message. Here are a couple of interviews with this courageous young girl, starting with an appearance at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart:
