What I like about "Star Trek: Next Generation"

The aliens and crew members are a grand heterogeneous mix. The only problem I notice is that 99.9% of the aliens somewhat resemble humans. And many episodes deal with serious and complex issues of philosophy. I marked "science" mainly for technology like warp drive, replicators, tractor beam, holodeck, transporter. All are cool things but I am put off by the way science is manipulated by Gordy and Data--they ALWAYS have an answer to a threatening situation. It's just too easy.
