"Has President Obama been a champion of science?" poll
Has President Obama been a champion of science?No...3Yes...2Almost a draw on this one.Barack Obama’s State of the Union address 2011..."We need to out-innovate, out-educate and out-build the rest of the world."Not working and a poor philosophy...rhetoric is cheap.Taking potshots at Obama on this topic is like placing a sitting duck in the cross hairs. I don't think the negativity is entirely Obama's fault but he has certainly demonstrated that science/technology is not a priority...it all comes down to money and a realization, in the case of NASA, that there are more players in space science and that NASA should not be the prime investor. Started NASA programs should be finished such as the Webb Telescope and a scale back of new projects when other countries are also contributing. I am not sure why DOE is cutting funding but esoteric theoretical physics does command scrutiny. I do believe that if the United States were not involved in two wars, the situation would be different.Ask...how are things going with the environment [pollution], medical advances, science education?

Obama's Smart Move
This is a smart move by the Obama administration. It is time that many of NASA's projects be curtailed or placed in outside competent contractors and a realization in these economic times that trips to the moon and Mars are unreasonable and fraught...
