Making Guacamole All Night Long

So I was whipping up a batch of guacamole for dinner, listening to the Texas Tornados (I am eternally grateful to Egg for the CD). On comes their classic, "Who were you thinking of when we were loving last night." I began to wonder about the ethics of it. The lyrics go,
"You got more out of it than I put into it last night.
Who were you thinking of when we were loving last night,
was it a good looking stranger or a close friend of mine?
Who were you thinking of when we were loving last night?"

Is this betrayal? The partner didn't actually do anything with anyone else. Having "lust in your heart" ala Jimmy Carter as is certainly not as bad as having lust in your office ala Bill Clinton. No matter how committed you are to your partner, there are always people in the world who you find attractive. But does it make a moral difference if the image pops up mid-coupling?

- Tripe My Guacamole, Baby Or Hooked On Phonics
Yes, I was listening to Little Feat on the way home last night and the phrase "tripe my guacamole" stuck in my head. As "tripe" is a noun, the sentence is not syntactically a well formed sentence, forget the fact that the combination of words is not meaningful....

- Sleep And Philosophy
An interesting story on sleep the other day on NPR. We sleep differently now than we used to. Psychiatrist Thomas Wehr has one consoling message for those who wake up at 2 a.m.: This is likely the way our ancestors slept. "There are historical records...

- The Meaing Of Bachelor Parties
Thinking about wedding rituals today becasue (1) it is LilBro's anniversary (LilBro -- don't forget, man, it's your anniversary), and (2) one of us here at the Playground is getting married very soon and I am playing a role in the ceremony....

- Thank You
It is a wonderful thing to have a time set aside to reflect on that for which you are thankful. I am indeed an incredibly fortunate individual. One of those things for which I am very grateful is the community that has grown around this blog. I am very...

- 14% Wider And 30% Brighter...our Moon Tomorrow Night
FULL MOON...AND MARS Friday night's full Moon is the biggest and brightest full Moon of the year. It's a "perigee Moon," as much as 14% wider and 30% brighter than other full Moons you'll see later in 2010. But that's not all. Mars is...
